I am going to pose a question to anyone who reads this post. I would love to get some feedback and ideas! My question is: What is your favorite way to organize toys for your children? What kind of shelves/bins to you use, how do you label them, is there a limit to how many toys you keep? We definitely need to come up with something better for our house . . . . What do you recommend?
We use the Expedit shelving system from Ikea & clear totes that fit in the cubbies. Usually not a huge Ikea fan, but this system has helped keep our toys manageable. Come over & check it out!!!
ReplyDeleteI use the 8 or 9 cube organizers from Target (in the espresso color, in case you care) and colorful fabric bins. I've taken pictures of what's in each bin and added words to the pictures (using Picassa), printed, laminated and hung them on the handle of each bin. This way the kids know where to put the toys (not that they automatically put things away!). I also try to rotate toys keeping the 'extra ones' in a spare closet. Our system isn't perfect but it's working right now! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhen the guys were little I rotated toys using rubbermaid containers. Legos had containers, Brio had containers, GI Joe's, K'nex, etc. It worked. For Ab, she has taken over the living room (privilege of being a sort of only) and her doll clothes have a full size dresser of their own. If we had had an extra dresser when the guys were little, I could see having used that for one of their collection of toys.
